Weber 1647 18" Grill Brush

Average rating:
Looks Good but...
While the brass bristles are top-notch and denser that the economy grill brushes Weber made a fatal design error. The metal scraper works well with the wire style grates found in Weber charcoal grills but not with the cast iron or porcelan grates found in gas grills. For the later you need a "T" style metal scraper that allows you to put a flat surface against the grate. Bottom-line, this is the brush that I hang out for looks and intra-cooking touch-up but when the guests aren't looking I pull out one of the economy brushess for the major scrapedown.
Weber 1647 18" Grill Brush -
Good grill brush, but not the best price.
I'm not sure Amazon will print this review, but here goes...

The brush itself is very good. Sturdy and well designed. The handle is long enough to let you scrub the grill while it's still warm and strong enough to let you use some elbow-grease. The bristles are densely packed for better scrubbing. If they were longer you could get a bit more of the grate at one time, but I don't think they'd scrub as well (since it's the tips of the bristles that do the real scrubbing and not the sides). The curved scraper does a good job getting each individual rail of the grate clean too.

I have only two complaints. First, the wood can get pretty dirty after a while and is hard to clean. Second, this isn't the best price I've seen for this brush. I've seen it at almost half price at the local [store]. ...

Anyhow, if you're buying a grill (like I did from Amazon) then definitely get yourself a good brush like this to keep it clean. If you're still using steel wool to clean the grill, you'll like this much better. Don't use it to clean the dog...long story.

Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase!

A versatile brush
You can't have too many grill brushes in your life. This one can tackle the worst grill build-up with ease. Also, if you're a professional animal trainer or zookeeper, it works great for brushing those elephant tusks and rhino horns. Just don't try to scratch the rhino's nuts with it. They're a little sensitive about that since this brush has brass metal bristles. I found that out the hard way. Try using a brush with nylon bristles for that instead. The scraper feature is also possibly useful for veterinarians for performing D & C's (if you don't know, don't ask) on large animals like livestock.
